ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

My name is Valerie Rieger and this is my plastic-free journey. I became interested in reducing my plastic consumption when I was completing my undergrad education. While I was not an environmental studies major, I did take a course about it, and I started to become more and more aware of all the plastic in my daily life. There are so many products packaged in single-use plastic containers. It is imperative that we start to become aware of this as we shop on a daily basis. I'm talking about trips to the grocery store, restaurants, shopping malls, pharmacies, convenience stores, etc.

The toothbrush we use on a daily basis is most likely made out of plastic. The toothpaste we use comes in a plastic container, and so does our shampoo and conditioner. Most of our beauty products come in plastic containers such as; lotions, face masks, soap, makeup, I could go on and on.

I created this website with the intention to provide simple ways to reduce plastic consumption. This website aims to educate and inform on why it is so necessary to reduce the amount of plastic we buy and use in our daily life.
